THE white-washing of history is as about in your face as gets as yesterday USA Today claimed that the democrat party did not start the Civil War, or form the KKK.
Both claims are patently false. Every Supreme Court justice to vote that Dredd Scott - and all blacks - had no rights under the Constitution was a democrat. Every state in the Confederacy was controlled by massive democrat majorities (Lincoln never even made it on the ballot in these states).
The President of the Confederacy, its generals, postmasters, and all other officials were democrats. Every pro-slavery bill leading up to the Civil War was democrat backed, as were the militant band of killers set loose in Kansas.
Speaking of militant bands of killers, he KKK was specifically formed by democrats are the military branch of the party. There isn't a shred of evidence to suggest otherwise, nor is there a shred of evidence that republicans had 1 wit to do with either the start of the Civil War, or the KKK.
Thus USA Today's claim that there was no "official" documents from the party doing any of the above is as about as convincing as Nazi's claiming there was no law "officially" ordering the Holocaust. Sure, all of the people who started the war and formed the KKK were democrats, but we can't paint with a broad brush is their ludicrous argument.
