I'm actually asking.  I can't even remember what came out last year.  Anything even close to a 4 star movie, much less a 5?

Are movies actually dead?

Great question!

I actually had to look online because I couldn't think of any. 2020 was a ROUGH year for movies, but a global pandemic will do that to most things.

'Tenet?' Which was boring pretentious trash... 'Palm Springs' was fun? But it was only released on Netflix, so that doesn't count in certain people's opinion.

For me personally, it was these three.

'VFW' A great, tight 'Night of the Living Dead' style horror film with a stellar cast and some great gore. Also a stellar soundtrack that had notes of the 'Dawn of the Dead' score peppered within.

'Bill & Ted Face the Music' A satisfying conclusion to one of my favorite films. Fun, charming and just what I needed in the pandemic apocalypse. A great story about the importance of family, responsibility and not taking shortcuts.

'Color Out of Space' The triumphant return of Richard Stanley, the creator of 'Hardware.' A story by H.P.Lovecraft with Nic Cage, where he goes FULL CAGE. A great story about the importance of family, responsibility and the Old Ones.

For some reason, I always think VFW & COLOR were 2019 movies....

And think about your list for a second and think about what that says about the state of studio movies right now.
