I saw the light.

A mere 24 hours after the Blues won the first Stanley Cup for St Louis, the Raptors won the first NBA championship for Toronto (and Canada) by beating defending champs Golden State Warriors in 6 games.

The Warriors had been heavy favorites, having won 3 of the last 4 NBA titles.

The Raptors play defense - kinda - which seemed to confuse the Warriors who, despite the refs doing everything in their power aid them, could not hit the big shots when it mattered most.  To wit, with seconds remaining the the game, the refs called a tripping call on the Raptors as Steph Curry went to the basket... only he tripped on his own feet.  A horrendous call at a ket time that the Raptors were able to overcome.

The refs - not content to simply let the game end with .9 seconds left and the Raptors holding the ball - called the Warriors for a foul.  It did nothing to change the verdict of the game, but did delay the finish for nearly 5 minutes, throwing a bit of cold water on the what should have been a shining moment for the Raptors (and the league's final game of the season).  But of course the reffing in the NBA has long been the worst of any pro sports, one of the reasons why it's lost fans.

And speaking of getting woke and going broke, the Warriors got super woke after becoming famous, turning down invitation to the White House, only to see key players Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson suffer major injuries.

Beyond the instant karma of the above, it's nice to see long suffering fans get a championship, something Lions fans can empathize with.

No more in darkness, no more at night.

Beside myself with grief...

I know, deciding which satan-worshipping pedophile should have access to nuclear weaponry can get pretty wiry.  But worry not, this is why we have the ‘Marketplace of Ideas’; so we can work our asses off to articulately plead for the mercy of psychopaths who will ultimately get their way anyway.
