So apparently Denis Villeneuve's Dune remake is actually happening. The heart-plug could be pulled anytime before principle photography of course, but some of the actors have been officially cast as of today.

Timothée Chalamet (Call Me By Your Name) is Paul Atreides
Rebecca Ferguson (M:I 6) is Lady Jessica
Batista is The Beast Rabban
Stellan Skarsgard is The Baron

Seems fine I guess. Skarsgard is not obese so he will clearly be wearing a fat suit or even a CGI digital body. Frankly though I don't really see the point of this project unless it were being done as a television series. It's not going to be better than Lynch's version. That much is certain. Apparently they have not cast Stilgar and Chani yet because they want all of the Fremen to be either Arabs, Mexicans, or some kind of "ethnic" race. Not that the books ever indicated that. I know some people liked Villeneuve's Blade Runner sequel but I am not one of them so my expectations for this film are very low.

So where does the power come from?

BLADE RUNNER was ruined by one epically bad idea - making Ryan Gosling a robot.  One of the dumbest movie decisions ever made.

And yeah, unless it's a trilogy, it won't scratch the balls of Lynch's version.
