WHEN Jim Harbaugh was hired 4 years ago, people in Ann Arbor were doing flips - surely he would be able to turn the program around.

Today, hopes are fading quickly.  OSU has beaten him 4 straight.  He's lost 3 of 4 to MSU.  His team just got crushed by Florida, in no small part because 4 of his top players would not dress for the game - including the Captain of the team.

And now for the second time in as many days, Harbaugh's football team has lost an assistant coach to its biggest rival. From the Freep:

"Ohio State confirmed the hiring of Michigan linebackers coach Al Washington on Tuesday.

Al Washington is going to be a terrific addition to our coaching staff, Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said in a released statement. Ive known him as player and as a coach and I know his family very well. I think his familiarity with this region as a coach and as a recruiter is going to be very impactful, as will his leadership with our linebackers unit.

The news comes one day after the Buckeyes announced the hiring of Michigan defensive line coach Greg Mattison as the team's co-defensive coordinator.

A Michigan spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment. "

So it's not only players that are quitting on Harbaugh when he needs help the most, it's his coaches too.  That they're leaving for OSU yet more salt in the wound.  That Al Washington is also a good recruiter only adds to the piling on.

It's pretty clear that Harbaugh burns people out - he was all but run out of San Francisco - and it's looks to be happening again.
