Oh wait, it's not shocking at all:

"With Net Neutrality Repealed, Comcast Says It Stopped Throttling Heavy Internet Users

“Our network and consumer devices have evolved to a point that our old congestion-management system is no longer necessary. The system has been essentially inactive for more than a year,” Comcast said, CNET reported Wednesday.

Comcast will charge users who don’t have unlimited data plans a fee if they use more than 1 TB of data.

With the end of net neutrality — the vague idea internet service providers (ISPs) should treat all internet traffic the same — on Monday the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) now has jurisdiction over anticompetitive behavior. The new rules the FCC put in place also require ISPs disclose network-management practices and performance details.

Dozens of ISPs including Comcast and Verizon pledged not to throttle internet users as the internet nearly collectively rang alarms that ISPs would slow the internet down."
-------------------------------------

But of course we didn't need to hear any of that from Comcast - we all knew based on our own experience that no, Trump did not kill the internet by making it exactly the way it was for all but two years of its existence.

Weird huh?

You might ask - do I ever get tire of being right?  No Virginia, I don't.

I don't have as much faith in corporations not being greedy shitbags as you do.

Case in point. http://www.crowboy.com/evilgenius/forum/index.php?topic=28227.0

Well, it's two weeks later and - shock! - internet porn still works.  Presumably whatever else the net is used for also working.  Not shocking however is that the left continues to act as crazy as a shit-house rat regarding putt returning the net to exactly where it was for 99% of it's existence.

Case in point.....

"A 33-year-old California man who told the FBI he was upset about the repeal of net neutrality regulations has been arrested on charges of threatening to kill the family of Federal Communications Commission Chairman Ajit Pai, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

According to court documents cited by the Justice Department, 33-year-old Markara Man of Norwalk, Calif., allegedly sent three emails to Pai in December 2017. The first email accused the FCC chairman of being responsible for a child who allegedly committed suicide over net neutrality repeal. The next email listed three locations near Washington, D.C., and threatened to kill Pai's family members. And the third email, the DOJ says, simply showed an impact of Pai and a framed photo of him with his family.

When the FBI traced the emails and confronted him in May 2018, Man admitted he made the threats because he was "angry" about net neutrality repeal and wanted to "scare" the FCC chairman, the DOJ said."

Ooooooh, that's scary!  Scary stupid.

One month in to going back to the free and open internet has produced exactly....

... zero problems.  Rates gone up?  Nope.  Porn sites shut down?  Nope.  Government shutting down sites they don't like?  Nope.

Shocking.  It's almost like the internet is still working.

Nah, that can't be.  Our betters told us it was the end of the world.

These things don't happen overnight. But again, we shall see.

This isn't at all ominous.

“Internet service providers may not necessarily generate much content of their own, but they may decide what content they will transmit, just as cable operators decide what content they will transmit.”

I wish I could be as optimistic as you, but when there is money to be plied from the masses, I expect very little from major companies.

EDIT.

There's also this.

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/07/net-neutrality-rules-are-illegal-according-to-trumps-supreme-court-pick/

Quote
President Trump's Supreme Court nominee argued last year that net neutrality rules violate the First Amendment rights of Internet service providers by preventing them from "exercising editorial control" over Internet content.

and this...

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2018/07/ajit-pais-fcc-wants-to-stop-reviewing-your-complaints-unless-you-pay-225/

Quote
Ajit Pai's Federal Communications Commission is proposing that it stop reviewing the vast majority of consumer complaints about telecom companies. Going forward, consumers harmed by broadband, TV, and phone companies would have to pay $225 in order to get an FCC review of their complaints.

The FCC accepts two types of complaints: informal ones and formal ones. It costs nothing to file an informal complaint and $225 to file a formal one; given that, consumers almost always file informal complaints. Besides the filing fee, formal complaints kick off a court-like proceeding in which the parties appear before the FCC and file numerous documents to address legal issues. It isn't an easy process for consumers to go through.

Again, I really hope I'm wrong and the worst facets of human greed doesn't rear their ugly heads... but I just don't see it going well.

What the FCC did is simply return it to the status quo.  Which was working just fine.

Pricing completely - and I do mean completely - dependent upon market demand, just as in any pother business.

Obama's version of net neutrality defacto gave the government the ability to dictate content, so the return to normal at least one step further away from Big Brother.

The internet will continue to grow far beyond the government or big businesses ability to regulate.  Something like SHADOWRUN may come to pass, but again only if needed.  In any event, the porn must flow and at this point, it looks like it is.

2 more weeks later and..... wait for it..... it's a big surprise....

The internet still works.  Speeds not affected in the slightest.  Porn still dominates the web.  Prices stable.  Children can still freely be "joke" raped on Twitter by Hollywood fun lovers (what cards!), then deleted when the world reads them.

Huh.  It's almost like all those people shrieking the sky is falling for over 9 months now were completely wrong.

Golly!

I'll check back in in a month to further belittle dumb-dumbs who just knew going back to what worked for 99% of the internet's existence would dooooooooooom us all.

Assuming the net's still here in a month.  Anyone wanna make a bet it won't be?

As a side note, in retrospect maybe going to prison for 10 years for threatening the FCC chair wasn't such a good idea.... nah.
