In a word..... no.

Looks like it offers 1 major new thing - in body stabilization.  This is very nice for those not using native OSS Sony glass.  But, seeing as I have only two very nice non-Sony lenses (2 Rokinons) it's not such a deal for me.  Maybe if I owned a bunch of Canon glass I'd fell differently, but for me, the up-grade just for this is a bit silly.

The touch screen does not work for the menu - the main reason I'd want one.  The touch screen does work for selective focus (much the way it does on the VG20), which you can use to pull focus, but it's laggy on the 6500 and prone to mess up.

All in all, a baby step forward for the 6500 - and almost none at all if you already own stabilized Sony glass:
